Arizona Snapshot Montezuma Castle
Near Camp Verde, you can gaze through the windows of the past into one of the best preserved cliff dwellings in North America. Nestled into a towering limestone cliff, this 20 room high-rise apartment tells a centuries-old story of ingenuity and survival in an unforgiving desert landscape. Home to the Pre-Columbian Sinagua people, the construction of Montezuma Castle began around 900 years ago and it was abandoned around 600 years ago.
